Shipping Your Clip
Most AFCNA members are running relatively small herds of alpacas. This, coupled with the fact that AFCNA members are located all across the North American continent has historically made the collection of member's fiber a daunting task.
The organization of Regional Clip Collection, beginning in 2007, was the first real step in improving a cumbersome and expensive process. Regional Clip Collection allows for econimies of scale otherwise unavailable to many individual producers. Experience has shown that shipping costs can be reduced by 50% or more. The Co-op strongly recommends producers organizing at the local level to participate in Regional Clip Collection efforts.
AFCNA members have access to the member list (sortable by State) and discussion forums set up to assist with succesfully organizing and operating a Regional Clip Collection. (These are available in the "Member's Only" area accessible when one logs in.)
Information available in this section covers current reccomendations and requirements for packaging and shipping clip to the Co-op. Adhering to these instructions will minimize costs to both the producer and the Co-op, increasingprofits for return to the shareholder. |
