The Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America (AFCNA) is an agricultural cooperative formed and owned by alpaca
producers in North America for the purpose of collecting and processing
alpaca fiber and distributing alpaca fiber and related products and the
profit from them to its owners (members). Our goal is to maximize the
long-term benefits to our members, the individual alpaca fiber
producers, and to the alpaca breeding industry as a whole.
Since its founding in 1998, AFCNA has grown to over 1,000 members.
We welcome all North American alpaca owners to join the Co-op and work
with us to build a sustainable and successful alpaca fiber industry.
The 2008 clip call will run from June 1, 2008 through October 31, 2008.
Your Board remains prepared to incentivize regional collection efforts . To do so, we have authorized the subsidy of freight costs as follows.
- Shipments of 200-499 pounds of fiber - AFCNA will pay 1/2 the shipping charges
- Shipments of 500 pounds or more of fiber - AFCNA will pay 100% of freight charges
- All arrangements for shipping/freight must be made through the AFCNA office (call Tammy)
Now is the time to start making arrangements with other breeders in your area to combine clip and meet these criteria. Shearing season is just around the corner!!
It is important that members submit clip in order for our Co-op to attain its projected production and sales goals for 2008 and beyond!
