Collection Site Coordinator Combining nationwide efforts such as regional collection sites provides a convenience to our existing and new members of the Alpaca Fiber Coop of North America (AFCNA). Past experience has directed us that shipping has been a deciding factor in submitting fleece to the coop.
Thank you for making it so much easier for people to get their fleece out of the barn! Over the past year we've more than doubled our collection sites and aim to do that again in 2011. Be an active part of the growth! Become a collection site. "Fiber is the Future" Qualifications:
- Availability to pallets (2-3 needed/shipping). 500lbs is the minimum for pick up
- Ability to add up the total weight on each pallet
- Fiber needs to be boxed and secured to the pallet with twine or plastic wrap
- Fiber bags can be packed in one pallet size recycling box (found at local recycling centers) and tied to the pallet
- Provide a clean safe, parasite void area for fleece storage
- View incoming fleece bags for member sheet and parasites
- Equipment to load the pallets onto a semi trailer (bobcat or tractor) If necessary a pallet loader can come with the semi trailer but it costs your cooperative much more for this service.
• Network to your local breeders, shows, affiliates to be able to acquire over 500 pounds/shipment
Benefits of a Collection Site:
- Be seen as a leader in your area as an active AFCNA member
- Increase farm visits from fleece drop offs
- AFCNA will reimburse plastic wrap needed for securing boxes to pallets
• Receive a FREE advertisement of your farm logo and site link on AFCNA.com
Please inquire with any questions or concerns you may have about being a site by contacting Wade Gease ( Vice President)
